šŸŒž Fun Summer Activities for You & Your Pup! 🐾

Happy New Year, Everyone!

I hope your Christmas was filled with joy, loved ones, and lots of delicious treats! As we step into the new year, many of you may still be enjoying a well-deserved holiday break with the kids. If you’re looking for family-friendly ways to keep everyone entertained, including your furry friends, here are some ideas to make the most of summer together!

Doggy HolidayĀ šŸļø

Summer is the perfect time for a getaway! Look for pet-friendly accommodations on platforms like Airbnb and bring your furry family member along for the adventure. Be sure to read the fine print—some ā€œdog-friendlyā€ spots may have restrictions on indoor access for dogs.

A quick tip: One of my friends recently dealt with a tick on her dog while on holiday. She used ā€˜Medi-Freeze Tick Off’ (available here) to safely and immediately remove the tick. It’s a great addition to your Dog First Aid kit as an extra precaution—though it’s not a substitute for regular preventative treatments.

Beach Day!Ā šŸ–ļø

What’s summer without a beach trip? If you follow me on social media, you might have seen MaryBelle’s first beach adventure last week! Dogs love to dig in the sand, splash in shallow waters, or even swim. If your pup is a swimmer, a doggy life jacket is essential. Don’t forget a towel for drying off and a beach umbrella to keep them shaded on sunny days.

Water Fun at HomeĀ šŸ’§

Beat the heat with some backyard water fun! Set up a DIY doggy pool, a pet water fountain mat, or a simple clamshell pool. For added fun, toss in dog-safe fruits like apples or blueberries for a cool, tasty treat. Always supervise your pup during playtime to ensure safety.

Enrichment Activities IndoorsĀ šŸ§ šŸ•

Too hot for outdoor walks? Keep your pup’s mind active with indoor games! Hide treats around the house, play hide-and-seek, or introduce a snuffle mat for a fun and rewarding challenge.

Dog-Friendly HikesĀ šŸ”ļø

Explore the great outdoors with your pup! Opt for early morning hikes to avoid the heat and always check the ground temperature—press the back of your hand on the ground for 5 seconds. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

Cafe DateĀ ā˜•ļø

Treat yourself to a coffee at a dog-friendly cafe! Bring a mat for your pup to relax on and enjoy the outing. This is also a great opportunity to invite friends and their dogs for a social hangout.

Indoor TrainingĀ šŸ›ļø

The heat doesn’t mean training has to stop! Try indoor activities like doggy parkour, platform training, or teaching new tricks to keep your pup engaged and sharp.

Frozen Pup TreatsĀ šŸ¦

Cool your pup down with homemade frozen treats. Combine Greek yogurt, peanut butter, and dog-safe fruits, then freeze them in an ice tray for a refreshing snack.

Picnic Time! 🌽

Pack a picnic and head to the park in the cooler hours of the morning. Bring toys for a game of fetch and snacks for you and your pup. This is a great opportunity to practice ā€œmat stayā€ commands to help your dog relax and stay cool.

Have Fun & Stay Safe!

Whatever activities you choose, remember to prioritize your pup’s safety and comfort. Keep them hydrated, avoid the hottest parts of the day, and always supervise their play. Here’s to a summer full of fun memories with your furry best friend!

Happy New Year and happy adventuring! šŸŒˆšŸŽ‰
